What Causes Discomfort In Heart Post Pulmonary Vein Ablation?

I have a history of atrial fibrillation and supraventricular tachycardia. I was treated with a pulmonary vein ablation just over 9 months ago. The past couple of weeks I have started feeling like my heart is shaky. Yesterday I woke up feeling like someone had punched me in my sternum and today I feel really off and tired and my right arm is numb. Should I be concerned or is this just costochondritis?

Hello,

Temporary pain or discomfort in the chest, right side numbness arm, feeling really off and tired can be a probble warning signal, and it can mean you're at greater risk of having a heart problem.

Detailed Answer: Costochondritis causes localized chest pain that you can reproduce by pushing on the cartilage in the front of your ribcage.

Costochondritis is a relatively harmless condition and usually goes away without treatment.

The cause is usually unknown but may happen from increased activity involving the arms.

Heart problem signs may include temporary chest pain, pain or numbness or discomfort in the left, right or both arms and feeling tired.

A shaky heart may be a sign of rapid an irregular heartbeat or racing heart. In some circumstances, a rapid heart beat can be caused by an arrhythmia.

This is often accompanied by chest pain. You may be referred to a heart rhythm specialist known as an electrophysiologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
