What Causes Discomfort Feeling In Sternum After Having Food?

I am feeling uncomfortable the last several nights after eating in the sternum area. I had/have a viral infection with flu like symptons, but tested negative for the flu. I also mentioned that I had acid reflux all day. The steriod shot helped, but I m still feeling achy part of the day. The doc gave me samples of Dexilant, but not helping for reflux and wondering if causing the continued aches.

hi,
thanks for writing to hcm.
your doctor has given you dexilant (dexlansoprazole) , a proton pump inhibitor . it is a good medicine to prevent reflux oesophagitis. however, if your symptoms persist, you should make sure you take this medicine atleast half an hour before your meal. also try to have your dinner 2 hours before sleep. walk around for sometime or sit upright after meals. donot lie down immediately after meals. consume bland food.consume good amount of water. also you could take antacids along with this medication.
take care..
