What Causes Discoloration And Swelling Of Vein Under Tongue?
Do you happen to know anything about pulsating veins under the tongue? After I bit my tongue quite hard a couple days ago, I started feeling some pain on the underside of my tongue. I investigated in the mirror and found that I had a swollen vein, that was a black-ish color. Do you happen to know how long it might take for it to heal? It s not too unbearable most of the time, but now it hurts a bit when I talk and especially when I eat.
Thanks for your query . Tongue bite is very common type of injury . It results in cut , swelling ,bleeding or bruising . In your case the injury is little deep that is the reason swelling and bruising of tongue occur .
Usually deep injury takes 5-7 days to heal .
I would suggest you to give your tongue ice pack 2-3 times a day to reduce chance of bleeding and reduce swelling , do hydrogen peroxide (3%) rinses mix with equal amount of water , also do antiseptic mouth wash ( listrine ) rinses twice a day and apply gel containing lignocaine for pain and discomfort.
If symptoms doesn't get better in 5-7 days or get worse consult oral surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may clean it with betadine , prescribe antibiotics and give stitches on wound to make it heal properly .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
