What Causes Dirty Watery Diarrhea After Taking Milk Of Magnesia?

I gave a stool sample yesterday (after a month of diarrhea)- and afterwards, I took two immodium and my prescribed Tylenol/codiene tablets. I was then told I needed to provide ANOTHER stool sample by 11am this morning. I was locked up- so I took milk of magnesia. Now- I m basically crying on the toilet as I seem to be urinating dirty water out of my anus non-stop (at least I got the stool sample by 11am!) How do I stop this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Milk of magnesia is used for constipation to help induce a bowel movement so it can cause loose stools in some persons.

Using another dose of the imodium or alternatively pepto bismol may help.

Avoid solid food for a few hours while your intestinal tract returns to normal, if you eat before it is ready then this may cause more loose stools.

I hope this helps
