What Causes Dip In Triglyceride Level After Following Plant Based Diet?
Hi. I have been trying to improve my numbers in my lipid profile. I had chemo . And after chemo I went into menopause. Pre chemo my numbers were total cholesterol 182 trig 68 hdl 46 and trig 122. After chemo 245 trig 56 hdll 57 ldl 177. I went on a plant based diet and after a month I went to a clinic and my new numbers were cholesterol 186 trig 119 hdl 44 ldl 118. How can my triglycerides double and hdl fall with such a dramatic improvement in diet and yet my total cholesterol improved.
Dear madam, greetings, from HCM.... I understand your concern but remember HDL values (good cholesterol) must be high and LDL (bad cholesterol) should be low.. Triglycerides should be low it varies a lot based on the type of diet we take .. After menopause HDL level s goes down.. Due to lack of that oestrogen protection .. Yes plant based diet will definitely helps us in reducing the cholesterol levels and recent guidelines LDL should be less than 100 mg / dL.. Triglycerides will be under control if you avoid carbohydrates.. Take more of proteins and milets which give s you lots of micronutrients and fibers too .. Thank for your question and do contact us for more information..
