What Causes Difficulty To Swallow And Severe Ear Pain?

I am at er with boyfriend for 3rd time, also he has had numerous test. He has said for approx 6 months now it hurts to swallow and it feels like something is in his throat. Also suffering from severe by earache for approx 6 months also. What test should they be doing?..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that severe earache and difficulty in swallowing can be due to chronic ear infection that can also lead to inflammation in throat as ear and throat are connected via Eustachian tube..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and otoscopic examination of ears and laryngoscopy, throat swab culture, pH level of throat can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
He can advise you to take antibiotics like Azithromycin, anti-inflammatory painkillers like Advil, do warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room.
Antibiotic ear drops can also be advised..
In case of chronic ear infection Pressure Equalization Tubes can also be placed inside the ears..
