What Causes Difficulty In Urination After Surgery For Tumor In Bladder?
I had surgery yesterday for a tumor in the bladder as an out patient. Everything seemed fine during the night having a cath in and urinating. this morning it seemed like i had to go but little was coming out. I went ahead and pulled the cath outper my instructions. Throughout the day I am not able to urinate normally. just just manage to get a few drops here and there. A few minutes ago i had to go again and couldnt get hardly anything out. it feels like it gets to the head of my penis and then goes back in and starting to feel pain in my left kidney. It took an haf hour to get out what i could. I am wondering if its just swelling inside or is there something thats wrong inside. Mark
Immediate postoperative period of bladder tumor with difficulty in urination indicate possible clot or residual tissue retention which may be blocking the aperture at the catheter tip surely.
In my clinic, I advise immediate ultrasound of the bladder and kidney for evaluation of bladder contents as well as the status of the kidneys which may be showing hydronephrosis from the backpressure of the urine.
Future line of action depends upon the ultrasound findings, which may be need of cystoscopy or else.
