Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Our daughter who is 22 years old has been having quite a lot of trouble swallowing for 1 1/2 years. She has had her esophagus stretched twice, had a barium test, a swallowing test, and a manometry test. Today we were told that she most likely has achalasia. I ve been reading about many others who seem to continue to have trouble with this even after a Heller Myotomy. Some have referred to being in the end stages of achalasia . Can this actually cause her to die? What can we do?
Acalasia should b treated as she is young and myomectomy or balloning stent is another possible method should b done, without any serious complication,u can do it easily and managed, also prognosis is good..so don't worry it will b beneficial for her.she for prolong starvation she will become lethargic and malnutrition..so better to go for surgery..
