What Causes Different BP Readings In Both The Arms?
My dad s 89. I took his BP tonight and in his right arm it was 176/54. In his left arm it was 101/50. I rechecked his right arm and it was 181/50. He has been struggling lately with dizziness. Any idea why the drastic change from one arm to the other. It has never been off by that much.

What Causes Different BP Readings In Both The Arms?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. There might be some decreased flow in one arm probably due to atherosclerotic changes accumulated over the years. You can take the higher recording as the original. Get an arterial Doppler of both upper limbs to look for any occlusion in the blood flow. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain
