Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had the diarrhea since Sunday. Went to the Dr. On Wed., they did a CBC blood test and also did a bowel sample. The results came back fine. I took a nap, woke up with pain in my lower right stomach. I couldn t stand up straight. Now I feel a little bit better, but I feel very bloated. The nurse told me to go to the ER. Thought it could be my appendix. I don t like to go to the ER unless I have to. Yes, stubborn. My temp. Was 99.7 and now is 98.0. So what do you think? ?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Are you still continuing with diarrhea? If diarrhea is still present accompanied by lower abdominal pain and bloating, then probably you are suffering from gastrointestinal tract (GIT) infection. Has your primary healthcare provider prescribed an antibiotic? If an antibiotic has been prescribed then you can wait for the infection to clear which will take 3-5 days. In the meanwhile, maintain good hydration and good nutrition to make for the losses during episode of diarrhea. Accompanying abdominal pain and bloating can be controlled by antibiotic, however, if it is troublesome you can take an antacid in the form of syrup or proton pump inhibitor to control these symptoms.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
