What Causes Diarrhea, Muscle, Tendon And Chest Pain?

Dear doctor, I had a sexual encounter with a girl 9 week ago. During the intercourse I was wearing condom. But sometime later while sex the condom had broken. I had make two strokes without condom. After breaking the condom I washed my penis with hot water within 30 seconds. After 3 weeks of the incident I started to produce flu like symptoms. I was experiencing a mild fever (99-99.5). Muscle pain, tendon pain, joint pain, a diarrhea for 2 days, muscle vibration, chest pain, pain in my testicles and itching into my penis. At 6th week my fever has gone. Tendon pain, muscle pain, muscle vibration and chest pain has disappeared. But, joint pain is still happening. Joint pain is not persistent. It appears from time to time. At 5 th week I had an HIV antibody test. It was negative. At 8th week I had another antibody test. It was negative. I tested for rheumatic fever and rheumatoid arthritis. ASO titre was higher from normal range. It was 229. But rheumatoid arthritis factor was negative. C reactive protein was also negative and it was 1.5. ESR was also normal and it was 5. CBC was also normal. Can you tell me about possibility of getting HIV positive ? I don t known about that girls HIV status.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the symptoms you have described, you may have contracted a sexually transmitted infection (STI) or another type of infection. It is important to see a healthcare provider for testing and diagnosis.

While HIV can cause flu-like symptoms during the acute infection stage, it is also possible that your symptoms are related to another infection. Diarrhea, muscle pain, and chest pain can be symptoms of various infections or illnesses, including STIs such as chlamydia or gonorrhea, as well as viral infections such as hepatitis or influenza.

It is important to get tested for HIV and other STIs if you have had any unprotected sexual encounters, regardless of whether or not you experienced symptoms. HIV antibody tests are generally accurate after 4 to 6 weeks of exposure, but it is recommended to get retested after 3 months to confirm a negative result.

In addition to HIV and STI testing, your healthcare provider may recommend further testing to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms. Treatment options will depend on the specific diagnosis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
