What Causes Diarrhea And Anal Itching After Using Augmentin?

I havery recent fished up a 7 day dose of augmentin. I had 1 day of severe diarrhea almost to the point that I thought it was Cdiff. The next day I began having intense itching around the anus. It has continental and now I have also noticed peeling skin around the anus and Crack of my bottom. What could this be caused from.

I appreciate your concern for the safety of Augmentin.

Diarrhea and anal itching is due to "super infections" caused by Augmentin.
Augmenin is an antibiotic which kills the bacteria responsible for various infections like respiratory tract infections, skin infections, etc.

Its use is associated with the overgrowth of certain normal commensals like Clostridium diff, fungus like candida, etc. which lead on to increase frequency of motions and anal itching due to candida.
This "superinfection" is usually reversible upon discontinuing Augmentin.
