What Causes Diarrhea After Drinking Contrast Agents For A CT Scan?

i recently had my gall bladder removed. Yesterday I had a CAT scan with both IV and oral contrast. Shortly after I finished the second bottle of contrast I had diarrhea that was bright yellow. My CAT scan came out fine - no abnormalities, so is it fair to assume that the yellow diarrhea (I still have a little bit of it today) came from the contrast?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Probably it may be side effects of contrast consumption which I have observed in a few patients. It may subside after the complete evacuation of contrast.

If you observe any rash or erythema on the body, then please consult your doctor immediately he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
