What Causes Depression While On Anastrozole?
My friend had her left breast removed 4 months ago. She had no chemotherapy, but her dr. put her on anastrozole and she has been taking it for about a month. She cries all of the time, she hints a suicide, her emotions are all over the place, she constantly complains that she can t read something and she thinks she needs new glasses. She has other symptoms, but the ones I listed are the worse ones. Should she stop taking the drug?

Anastrozole is used to decrease the amount of oestrogen in the body and helps to slow or reverse the growth of breast cancers, but is some cases there are side effects which include mood change and depression.
There's another cause of depression, a condition called post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which is an anxiety disorder that can be brought on by a traumatic event like breast cancer and surgery.
Your friend shouldn't stop her medication before visits her doctor which should be as soon as possible to evaluate the risk / benefit ratio of her treatment and also to make sure it's not a PTSD.
