General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Pregnancy is first to be ruled out in case of absent periods in a reproductive age group women. Since pregnancy is ruled out, hormonal imbalance is the main cause of absent / irregular periods. Polycystic ovaries, uterus abnormalities, hypothyroidism, nutritional deficiencies like anemia should be ruled out.Any vaginal or pelvic infections should be ruled out.

I would suggest you to take a Pelvic ultrasound,Thyroid function test and complete blood count to identify the cause of hormonal imbalance. Estradiol and LH hormone levels should also be tested. You may be prescribed Hormonal pills to regularize your cycles.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
