Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently switched from a combination pill (Diane 35) to a progestogen only pill (cerazette) due to an intolerance of estrogen. I stopped diane 35 pretty much 1/5 into the pack also straight after the end of my period. I bled a second time for 5 days and that s apparently not period and totally normal. After a weeks break I started cerazette. What my concern in that my new period is late by 5 days. I do use back up contraception too (male condoms) so I am hoping to hear that my period delay is due to the pill switch. If so, when will I get my next period or does anything I have said possibly point to pregnancy. Thanks
Cerazette is taken every day, and there is no pill-free week, so your bleeding patterns may be different from what you are used to. Bleeding changes Some women will have infrequent bleeding or no periods at all. Others may experience more frequent or prolonged bleeding that requires sanitary protection. Over time, bleeding tends to become lighter and less frequent in some women. If your periods stop There should be no need to worry. Some women experience no bleeding while taking the progestogen-only pill. It does not mean that your medication is not working.
