What Causes Delayed Periods Along With Pain In Lower Pelvis?

My period was 8 days late. I thought it was possible that I was pregnant. I took 3 pregnancy test and they were all negative.Yesterday I started feeling uncomfortable in my lower left pelvic area. Today I pressed on it and noticed it seemed swollen. Soon after that I started my period but the blood is really dark....almost black. Today I am having pretty steady pain in that left lower pelvic area. It still fills swollen and it hurts to walk. The smaller steps I take the less pain. The pain is not like regular period cramps. It s kind of a constant steady pain. Almost like a muscle strain with a little jab added every once and a while. I am scheduled for my regular pap check up in 7 days. Should I worry?

I understand your concern.
The description you are giving about the symptoms appear that you could have had missed abortion. Probably the egg might have fertilized but had failed to implant.
That might be the reason for delay in period, abdominal pain and negative pregnancy test.
Kindly get an ultrasound scan of abdomen and pelvis done to know what could be status.
You need to consult Gynecologist with the report for appropriate evaluation and management.
