What Causes Delayed Periods After Taking Ovidrel Injections?

My wife has menstual cycle like clock work with no medical issues and took femera days 3-7 and ovidrel shot on day 11 and insemenation on day 12 and today is day 31 and no period. Negative home test on day 15. Nurse said it is normal for the 2 meds to delay menstrual cycle but I can t find any information that supports that. Will they delay cycle and if so how long??

Hi,

Both he drugs given to you were to induce follicular maturity and ovulation, followed by insemination to cause pregnancy. Femira and ovidrel are not likely to postpone periods (in absence of pregnancy). Inj. Ovidrel is known to cause bleeding after 14 days of injection, in case thre is no conception. This indicates possibility of pregnancy. Home pregnancy test would be positive after 3 weeks of insemination or after 8 days delay in periods.
