What Causes Delay In Talking And Swollen Face After Jaw Injury?

I fainted and ended up with a fractured jaw, but not wired and no medication. This was about 4-6 weeks ago. My speech is not normal still when talking. The swelling did not last long in the beginning. However. 2 weeks ago my entire left side of my face, jaw and neck was swollen beyond belief. I rubbed with alcohol for about a week. Help me who should I see now.

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain a fractured jaw needs to be fixed and proper medications should be taken to treat pain and swelling and to prevent infections if there are open wounds..

When you do not consult a doctor and there is a fractured bone the normal body's healing mechanism tries to heal and join the broken fragments of bone if the broken fragments are in contact with each other..
But there can be unprecise joining of broken fragments if the broken parts moves up and down slightly.

You have difficulty in speech just because either the broken pieces of jaw have still not yet healed or there is not correct joining of bone..

The swelling must have disappeared as the body's immunity itself mkes efforts to reduce inflammation and pain and thus yu do not have swelling and pain.

I would suggest you to consult a dental specialist called as ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEON who can take an OPG (X RAY OF JAWS ) and decide what is the exact status of the jaw and surrounding structures and plan a proper treatment for you..
YOU SHOULD NO MORE DELAY THE TREATMENT..

Hope yur query is solve..

Thanks and regards..
