Hi,

Postinor 2 contains levonorgestrel, a female natural sex hormone called progesterone that is used in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies from unprotected sexual intercourses when it is taken within 72 hours of unprotected sexual encounters. Tt may cause your menstrual cycle to be earlier or later, heavier or lighter than usual. It also may cause missed period, irregular uterine bleeding, spotting or breakthrough bleeding between periods, vaginal bleeding, vaginal discharge etc.

These side effects are mild as well as self limiting and usually go away over time. But if any of these side effects persist for long or bother you, then you should consult your doctor first for medical attention. Again, if you have any doubt, then you can undergo urine for pregnancy test 7 days after the next missed period.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

You had unprotected sex with your wife and she took Postinor 1 and 2 pill as a precaution. If she took emergency contraceptive pill within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse then she should not get pregnant. Emergency contraceptive protection is a one time use medicine. Delay in menstruation commonly occurs due to changes in hormonal due to the pill.

Other medical conditions that may cause delay in periods are stress(emotional or physical), anemia, PMI, premature ovarian insufficiency, low body weight, obesity, thyroid problems, PCOS, etc. If she misses her periods, she can get a pregnancy test done with the first, morning, midstream urine. Get her examined by a gynecologist, she needs a per vaginal examination done to detect bulky uterus. She may need a USG done to rule out ectopic pregnancy. She will be managed accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
