What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Taking Contraceptives After Having Unsafe Sex?

Hello Sir/Madam. Actually my fiance had her periods on 25th march aftee that we had an unprotected sex on 4th april but she took a contraceptive pill on that itself. After that she got her periods on 14th april but it was less than usual and lasted for 4 days. She also done a pregnancy test on 25th april and it was negative. But as now should get her periods after 28-30 days of her last periods, she didn t having her periods and neither she is feeling any cramps. So we are very tensed that is there is any chance of getting pregnant? we really need your consult. Thank you.

Had she taken emergency pill or next morning pill or post coital pill after the sex? The doses of such pills are higher than regular contraceptive pills.
The bleeding she had on 14th April was withdrawal bleeding due to the contraceptive pill she had consumed. That indicates that she was not pregnant.
This time the delay could be because of:
1. It is due and will appear in few days. Some delay is due to the emergency pill taken.
2. Pregnancy caused by another episode of unprotected sex after that. Wait for 8-10 days more. If no menses, get the urine test for pregnancy and/or ultrasonography done. These tests done earlier may turn out to be non-conclusive or non-reliable.
3. Could be hormonal imbalance which is most likely since she had regular menses so far. Wait for few months and observe. If they are irregular, report to your Gynaecologist.
4. Stress of pregnancy : Seems to be most likely cause. Relax and observe what has been suggested above.
