What Causes Delay In Menstrual Bleeding After Taking A Depo-Provera Shot?

So, I only took about two or 3 shots of the depo, and the entire time, I bled throughout those shots. Well, I was supposed to take my shot in June but I skipped it. My boyfriend and I have been having unprotected sex and he finishes inside me everytime. I was bleeding a little the time we were having sex and afterwards, the bleeding completely stopped. I haven t had any more bleeding since the last time we had sex and he finished inside me. Could I possibly be pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Because you have not had your periods it is important to have a pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy. Also, if the pregnancy test is negative and you have irregular bleeding or bleeding during intercourse you may need a vaginal examination and possibly a pap smear and transvaginal ultrasound to make sure there is no infection or tumor causing your symptoms.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
