What Causes Darker Complexion In Babies?

Hi doctors, i had some queries for my baby. Actually when my baby was born she was very fair.And now she has become very dark. When i consulted with child specialist he told me that it is because of dry skin, so he asked me to apply emoderm oinment all over the body and use pears soap for bath. he also told me to stop oil massage. After doing all this still my baby is getting dark day by day. Doctor is also telling me that it is fungul disease.



Will you please help me out with this problem. My baby is 5 months old now

Although environmental factors like sunlight and UV rays have a role to play in determining the colour of an individual, genetics plays a very important role in this regard. The skin colour does not express itself properly at birth. So it is not unusual for a newborn to look fair. Even the present colour might not be the final colour of skin of your child. Although fungal infection is possible, it seems less likely.
Oil does not get absorbed through the skin and hence your doctor has asked you to avoid it.
