What Causes Dark Coloured Urine And Stools?

Just today, and never before that I can remember, my urine has been almost a light, beef broth brown. Usually it is pretty clear or sometimes after vitamins can get temporarily greenish. I m 62 and since early adulthood at least have urinated often. I m just getting over a cold and 2 days ago took Pepto Bismoll for an upset stomach which turned my stool dark. I ve also been under a lot of stress for some months - yet otherwise today I feel pretty good.

Urine changes its own colour(red or pink,orange,blue or green,brown)in different situations which are related to:medications, certain foods or food dyes. In some cases changes in urine color may be caused by different health problems.You told me that your urine became suddenly brown.Brown urine may be as a result of:1.Food. Eating large amounts of fava beans, or aloe can cause dark brown urine.2.Medications. A number of drugs such as the antibiotics metronidazole (Flagyl) and nitrofurantoin, laxatives containing cascara or senna, and methocarbamol — a muscle relaxant etc.
3.Medical conditions. Some liver and kidney disorders can turn urine dark brown, as can some urinary tract infections.4. Muscle injury from extreme exercise can result in pink or cola-colored urine.I would suggest you to hava an urine analysis test ,if you realise that your urine is getting darker and the situation is getting worse.
