What Causes Dark Brown Granular Stool?

Hallo, I started on 2 antibiotics 2 weeks ago and after the first dose had a black granular stool - thought it must be the medication, but my GP said no, so did the Pharmacist. Every stool since has been normal i.e. dark brown. What could be he reason?Thank you Anne.

thank you for contacting HCM. Hard to give reasons for this. any change in the gut bacteria from antibiotic use can alter the color but we can not relate these to antibiotic use all the time.

it also some times depends on the food intake. dark tarry stools are very suspicious for bleeding in the stomach.

in a specific type of jaundice you can have clay colored stool.

people who takes iron can have dark stools.

be watch ful. if it recurs and persists see your doc.

hope I did not confuse you.
