I have been coughing up mucus for about two to three months now...i am sick of it! All day every day i constantly am coughing up mucus. Recently I have noticed a smalll black spot in the mucus i cough up. Is this something i should worry about? how do i get rid of it?
Understamding your concern. As per your query you have been coughing since long which is due to respiratory tract infection leading to bronchitis. Black colour in sputum is because of blood remnants which occurs while severe coughing. Need not to worry about it. You should visit pulmonologist once and get X-ray chest done. You should start medication after proper diagnosis. Till then take antobiotic Amoxicillin for 5-7 days. Take anti histamine such as Levocetrizine along with this. Avoid use of cold liquid substances. Take steam inhalation. Avoid oily food. Take diet rich in multivitamins. You should gargle daily.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
