What Causes Cough And Thick Salivation After Giving Wikoryl Syrup To An Infant?

My 21month old toddler boy had cold last week, after giving him wikoryl syrup it seemed to have reduced , but this week he developed cough. Today when feeding him he suddenly vomited out and after that we are seeing thick saliva drooling out of the mouth continuously and even running nose. What does drooling of thick saliva mean?? I am worried. What should i give him to soothen him. There is no fever till now. Kindly please suggest.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear Greetings
Regarding your child symptoms of persistent cough and thick saliva drooling from the mouth after vomiting I am suggesting a possibility of an upper respiratory tract infection

In view of this please him see a paediatric specialist for further clinical assessment and adequate drug prescription

Meanwhile regarding drooling of the saliva this is occasionally seen in newborn babies and it does not indicate any pathology

I hope this helps Regards
