What Causes Cough And Nasal Congestion Post Flu Recovery?

30 years old, normally healthy. I just got over the flu. Four days of extremely high temp 101-103.8 no cough or congestion. As soon as the fever was gone I started getting sharp pains in my ribs and abdomen when I take deep breaths. It s almost unbearable if I turn a certain way. Is this normal from a prolonged flu with high temp or what could it be? My coworker said is could be Preulosy, however I m not sure what that is.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
The symptoms what you have been describing appears that you are having respiratory tract infection caused by bacteria following viral infection. Many a times, secondary bacterial infections occur due to decreased immune status following viral infection.
Kindly do the following to overcome them.
1. Do salt water gargling with warm water thrice a day.
2. Use steam inhalation to liquefy the mucous for easy drainage.
3. Take mucolytic-decongestant medications in the form of syrup containing Ambroxol/Bromhexine, Guaifenesin and Chlorpheniramine maleate as ingredients.
4. In case you feel feverish and body aches, you need to take Tablet. Paracetamol with Ibuprofen combination after food.
5. Take a course of oral antibiotics Tablet.Azhithromycin.
Strictly avoid consumption of cold items like cold drinks and ice cream.
Your symptoms should get better soon by adopting to above measures.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
