What Causes Cough And Green Colored Phlegm In A 10 Month Old?

My 10 1/2 month old has had a cough for about a week and a runny nose. He s a little sick and its like phlegm and green. He s been poking at his ear and today his poo has been runny and yellow not to mention very very smelly!. He s only slightly off his food. Should I get him checked out or is it viral?

You have not mentioned any fever so it seems simple congestion. But infection may catch.

If you can get Piper longum and holy basil leaves, boil these in water. Say in 100ml water 1 Piper longum and few leaves of Holy basil may be boiled for some time. This water may be given intermittently to drink by child for few days/one week.

This clears cough, fever, Intestinal infection etc. This is a harmless primary measure. No side effects, no interaction with other drugs.

If you can get from India or online, pl get Bachaturbhadrika/ Balchaturbhadra chooran - a polyherbal combo of four herbs - infant friendly AYURVEDA classic medicine. Piper longum, Aconitum heterophyllum, Pistacia integerrema, Cyperus rotundus are the ingradients. 1/4 gm with honey twice or thrice a day will make your baby happy and congestion less in few days.it improves immunity and appetite and is carminative, anti spasmodic also.

This powder can be given upto 12 yrs of age of children when needed. Dose varies.
