What Causes Cough And Congestion Despite Taking Robitussin?
I have had runny stopped up nose and sinus drainage and cough for 6 days. My doctor recomended Robitussin DM for the cough but I cant sleep well and I still cough. No fever or chills or discolored sputum. Sometimes it is difficult to breathe, I am a 62 year old male and I take hypertension meds. I seem to get this stuff at least rwice a year in the winter months. Sometimes it starts off with raw throat but not this time
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of cough and congestion despite taking Robitussin which seems to be due to severe chest infection/ chronic upper respiratory tract infection. Need not to worry. You should avoid intake of outside food. I would suggest you to take cough expectorants and do warm saline gargles. You should take steam inhalation on daily basis. You should take antibiotic Amoxicillin in combination with antiallergic medication Sinarest. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get X-ray chest and throat swab test done and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
