What Causes Continued Sensitivity In Teeth After Filling The Cavities?

hi, i recently got about 9 cavities filled with white composite fillings. It has been two weeks now and i still have to be on advil 24-7 and cannot sleep at night because of the sensitivity. When i try and floss in between some of my teeth (probably the ones that got worked on) it kills me and feels like i am chewing on tin foil or something. This only hurts when i am touching both the teeth, and not the gums or anything. Do you have any idea what that might be caused from?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case if you have such severe sensitivity of teeth after getting filling done that too even after 2 weeks then it is not at all normal..
There is a possibility that during preparing the tooth for placement of the filling material there has been nerve exposure due to deeper penetration of the preparing instrument and as the filling material is placed over it the nerves are irritated and causing pain..
So my suggestion is to consult a dentist and get x ray of painful teeth done so that the exact condition can be ruled out..
If the nerves are exposed the fillings has to be removed under local anaesthesia and then root canal treatment of tooth will have to be done for relief from pain..
As of now you can take painkillers and also apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine to relieve pain..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
