What Causes Constipation, Mucus Discharge And Gastritis Inspite Of Taking Ibuprofen?

what might cause excessive intestinal mucus and gas (not stinky)? I started using a fiber powder (dextrin) to (maybe?) help with hard stools, excessive mucus. Now I have hard stools, mucus AND gas:(I take 1-2 tramadol, 1-2 ibuprofen, and sometimes 1-2 Extra-Strength Excederin each day for arthritis and occasional headaches.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, you on treatment for arthritis,
You are on high dose non steroid anti inflammatory drugs(NSAID's)
this nsaid's may cause mucosal disruption and may lead to excess mucus secretion.
If i were your treating doctor, then i would advise
1) To add an antacid drug such as omeperazole.
2) regarding gas production a short course of symbiotic tablet may be helpful.
3) I would recommend to consult your physician, to know about rationale use of nsaid's, and other drugs to counteract excess mucus production.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
