What Causes Constipation And Vaginal Bleeding After An Appendectomy?

I had a laproscopic appendectomy 5 days ago. I have had no bowel movement. Now I appear to have vaginal bleeding. My abdomin is bloated and becoming hard to the touch. I cannot eat more than 3 to 4 oz of food a few times a day. I am urinating twice a day. My menstral cycle is still a good 2 weeks from due. Should i be concerned? What should i do to facilitate bowel function? The pain is becoming constant at around a 5 on a 1-10 scale.

Hi!

We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, you need to have Gastroenterologist review along with workup including stool analysis as well as CT abdomen and pelvis with contrast.

If unremarkable colonoscopy may also be needed. Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen and antispasmodics like Drotaverine or Motility agents like Itopride can be used.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
