What Causes Constipation After Chemotherapy?

My husband has lung cancer. He had most of his lung removed. Went through 6 weeks of chemo and rad. His main problem right now is he can not poop. And has not been able for almost a week and this happens every other week same thing no poop and a lot of pain.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have constipation after chemotherapy . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case it is due to chemotherapy . Some chemotherapy drugs can result in constipation. I would suggest you to eat foods high in fiber like fruits (pears), cereals, and vegetables , drink two to three liters of non-alcoholic fluids (water, juices) each day , exercise ( light walk ) twenty to thirty minutes most days . If symptoms persist then consult your doctor , who may prescribe laxative . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for gastric problem .
