What Causes Constant Upper Respiratory Infections While Having Narcolepsy?

I have a 26 year old son that has narcolepsy. He was diagnosed at 19. He has allergies but it seems he is constantly sick. Always has sinus or upper respiratory infections. This year alone he has been sick more than 10 times. He is taking allergy shots. He exersices, takes vitamins, eats healthy, only goes out on weekends. His white blood count is normal. His primary doctor doesn t seem to take him seriously about all his illnesses. She just shrugs it off. Is there a specialty doctor he could go to for help?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Looks like your son has a history of chronic RTI. Recurrent infections are indicative of immunodeficiency which may trigger sinus infections, bronchitis, common cold, allergy coughs that may complicate to asthma later in life.

Since rest of the reports are fine you should work on getting your son switch on to healthy lifestyle.

You are suggested to get him treated for immunodeficiency, he may need antibiotics, antivirals, interferon to treat viral infections caused by immunodeficiency disorders.

Get him physically examined. He may need immunoglobulin therapy. Get him treated for Narcolepsy by a skilled Neurologist experienced in treating the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
