What Causes Constant Headache Along With Night Sweats And Low Grade Fever?

I am experiencing a constant headache, night sweats and a low grade fever of 101 for 5 days. I have been on amoxicillin for 3 days with small improvement of an occasional lowered fever. Headache and fever are helped by advil and Tylenol, alternated every 4 hours. Any thoughts?

Hello,

I can give you the following opinion:

- Most fevers encountered in general practice are viral, self-limiting and require only symptomatic treatment but since general measures and investigations are not giving desired results.

- Seek the opinion of Medicine specialist who will look [as a compulsory routine] for pallor, jaundice, abdomen for liver & spleen and auscultate the chest.

- If there is a running epidemic, examples are malaria, influenza, viral hepatitis or typhoid in the locality, then that cause must be thought of first.

Though many of the fever in general practice are viral and harmless, one should always try to find the cause of the fever by evaluating the associated symptoms. If the fever does not reduce within 3 to 4 days of empirical treatment, investigate in details or consult a physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
