What Causes Constant Blocked Nose And Insomnia In A Child?

Hello doctor, my two year old daughter has runny nose and cough earlier which kind of reduced but not cured properly after giving tixylix syrup. She now has fever since yesterday around 100 degrees. A local compounded who checked her with stethoscope told us that there is cold. And suggested us to give sporidex syrup. We have been giving her only paracetamol as per her weight. She still has blocked nose, unable to sleep also not eating any thing. Please help.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Fever along with blocked nose are suggestive of infection.
Paracetamol will help to control the fever.
An antibiotic will be required, however, before administering any drug or syrup please consult a pediatrician.
Blocked nose is due to involvement of upper respiratory tract.
However, the lower respiratory tract also needs to be examined to look for any evidence of infection of lower respiratory tract.
In ability to sleep is understandably due to difficulty in breathing.
Sporidex is an antibiotic syrup, however, consult with your pediatrician regarding dosage and frequency of syrup.
Fever causes dehydration and it is very fast in young children.
So, maintain hydration of the child by giving more of fluids.
Nutrition should also be well maintained by feeding the child regularly with nutritious food.

Thanks and take care
