What Causes Consistent Painful Cramps During Menstruation?

My last couple of periods have started off my usual flow but towards the end of the period the blood becomes dark brown in colour and paste like in texture. My vagina slso becomes quite dry so removing tampons is uncomfortable. Pain is consistent with my usual menstrual cramps. I have pcos. Should I be concerned about this change.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It can happen that the menstrual flow may change from the usual. I would just recommend you to have a pregnancy test, just to make sure you are not pregnant.
If you are not pregnant and you do not have secretions with bad odor, you have no pain during intercourse or symptoms outside of the periods, then there is no reason to worry.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

I wish you good health.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
