Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
MY HUSBANDS'S BLOOD PRESSURE RISES HIGH UPON MOVEMENT AND WORK BUT WHEN HE IS AT REST, IT IS FINE. THE DOCTOR SAYS IT MAY BE A COLLAPSED ARTERY. HE HAS TO HAVE STRESS DONE IN A FEW WEEKS. WHAT EXACTLY IS A COLLAPSED ARTERY AND WHAT CAUSES IT? THANK YOU.
A rise in blood pressure, mainly the systolic ( the upper value) can occur with exercise and it is not necessarily an abnormal finding. We notice this when we do the stress test called Tread Mill Test ( TMT). If the blood pressure does not rise to some extent during the procedure, it is considered abnormal. Best wishes, Dr. Noble Zachariah
