What Causes Cold Hands After Having Clindamycin And Sulfamethoxazole?

I am taking 2 antibotics clindamycin and sulfamethoxazole for a face infection. For the last two days I get the shakes and am feezing, with very cold hands. Then I break into a sweat. Lots of body-aches. Only thing that helps is Advil and Tylenol every six hours. After 6 hours it happens again.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you are experiencing shakes, freezing and cold hands, it looks like you have sulfa - allergy. You are suggested to stop taking Sulfamethoxazole. Take plenty of water to flush out the side effects from your system. You will be fine after some time.

You can take non-sedating antihistamines, one SOS when required for relief. You can use Clindamycin ointment locally in the area affected. Take care of your facial hygiene, take bath everyday. Do not use any chemical cosmetics. Stay away from direct exposure to sunlight & avoid addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
