What Causes Clogged Ears While Recovering From Cold?
I had a cold, and most of the symptoms have gone, however my left ear became blocked about a week and a half ago. There is no pain in the ear - should I just wait, or is there something I can do to help the process along. The loss of hearing is driving me nuts
Eustachian tube a tube that is connected between middle ear and pharynx .It maintains air balance between middle ear and pharynx and also drains out secretion from ear into pharynx,
During cold the pharyngeal opening of this tube often gets blocked due to edema resulting into imbalance of air and collection of fluid in ear causing deafness and discomfort in ear .
Taking antibiotic and anti inflammatory medication like Diclofenac twice daily and having gargles with warm water mixed with saline help to reduce the edema and resolve the issue within days .
