What Causes Clear, Foamy Substance While Coughing And Frequent Pneumonia

My mother-in-law(93yrs) has a cough that produces a clear, foamy substance. She frequently has pneumonia. She also has a small mass on her left lung. No pain, or shortness of breath. We would like to know what is causing the substance she coughs up . Thank you

you should get her investigated.she may land having pulmonary odema.it is more likely cardiac and pulmonary cause which needs specialist attention.get her sputum examination and bronchoscopy done and meet a cardiologist or pulmonologist.
