What Causes Clear Bumps And Itching All Over The Body?

Hi, my name is Luis and I amexperiencing itching all over the body like my thighs, groin, buttocks, arms, legs, feet, hands, chest and armpits... I have been seeing this guy who has also been experiencing this itchiness throughout his body in almost all same areas as mine... Thing is that the places where it itches do not have any visible rashes but rather looks like normal skin except maybe darker in color than areas where it doesn t itch... He thought it might be jock s itch but he applied a cream for that which did not really do much of a difference... I am going to the doctor tomorrow but I just want to know what to expect... Could it be herpes? Altho there are no oozing on liquids or even pain or burning coming from the itchy areas... There are some clear small bumps that itch alot when its humid... He thought it could be a fungal imfection but then the jock itch cream would ve done something if it was right?? Someone please answer I just want to know what to expect... Thanks!

Hi, Luis..

It seems that most probably you may be having seborrheic dermatitis. There may be flaky patches on chest, axillae and groin areas. There may be dandruff. Seborrheic dermatitis is an inflammatory skin condition. It may be precipitated by factors like stress, anxiety, sleeplessness,Oily skin (seborrhoea),Familial tendency ,
There may be some conditions associated...
Immunosuppression due to organ transplant, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and others,Neurological and psychiatric diseases...like Parkinson disease, tardive dyskinesia, depression...etc. Yeast like mellessezia furfur may be associated. You consult dermatologist for firm diagnosis and treatment.

I generally give treatment in my patients having such problem in following way..
-antifungal tablets like ketoconazole with steroid in tappering dose for few weeks.
-antihistaminic like levocetirizine till itch and discomfort is reduced.
- vitamin like folic acid may be taken for long time.
- associated disease may be treated.
-Topical antifungal agents to reduce Malassezia eg ketoconazole, or ciclopirox cream or zinc pyrithione or selenium sulphide lotion
-Mild topical corticosteroids like mometasone.
-Topical calcineurin inhibitors (pimecrolimus cream, tacrolimus ointment) as required
- for dandruff, shampoo with ketoconazole containing shampoo

After few week treatment you might feel better. Regular follow up is needed,as the disease may relapse. I hope this would help you in your treatment.

Thanks.
