What Causes Chronic Throat Clearing?

I have a constant feeling of clearing my throat but no phlem or mucus and no soar throat and no cough no fever or anything I feel fine just a constant feeling of clearing my throat my last sexual partner was on 7/13/15 with a escort I don t know her HIV status n I m scared now because I have a gf and we been having sex after that I got tested on 9/8/15 I came out HIV negative help me I m going for a retest this month on 10/14/15 because it will be official 3 months after can you help me

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of chronic throat clearing which is due to compromised immunity of body and increased susceptibility of getting infected. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles on daily basis. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages and take throat lozenges. You should take antibiotic amoxicillin in combination with antiallergic medication. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids. You should get throat swab test done and start treatment after proper diagnosis.
