Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Chronic Sinusitis Despite Taking Prednisone And Antibiotics?
I moved from California to Colorado in January 2011. After 9 days of living in Colorado, I had my first asthma treatment at the doctor s office. I also had sinus surgery in January 2014 because my sinuses wouldn t drain properly and I had chronic sinusitus all the time and was constantly on antibiotics and prednisone. We moved back to Dana Point, California in April, 2015 and I have been better since moving back to sea level. I have not taken any antibiotics or prednisone since living here. My husabnd would like to move back to Colorado and I told him I cannot live there. My ENT here in Irvine, California stated it was environmental in Colorado. Can you please explain why I was so sick in Colorado? My husand said I never addessed the root cause of the problem
* As per my clinical experience, the sinusitis does depend upon number of factors as
- environmental moisture and humidity
- response to allergens inhaled
- immune suppression through chronic steroid therapy
- diabetes or other co morbid conditions
- blockage of sinuses through turbinate hypertrophy or others
- deviated nasal septum
However, any individual can have sinusitis apart from above common reasons and has to be evaluated with particular concern to that case only.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
