What Causes Chronic Pain And Numbness In The Upper Legs?

I have been having problems with both legs, from knees up, I do have chronic back pain for years but never had this..Dr gave me a small does of nerve medicine which also treats siesures . This started past April and even with this medicine for 3 months it is now constant...i have to sit down within a few minutes after I walk...Numbness is starting to be painful now...plus periodically having a sharp pain on side of head...not a headache..comes and goes...some days many times then some days nothing...not a headache I go back to Dr in a week...will mention the pain also on my head. What do you think the leg problem is...becoming difficult now.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The pain in the thighs and the back which makes you to sit after walking is suggestive of a condition called sciatica and most probably caused by compression of the nerves in the lumbar spine area.
MRI of the lower spine will give an exact diagnosis and guide for proper management.
The headache has many a reasons and hence you have to consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations like CT scan or MRI of brain and sinuses to know the cause and have treatment according to the cause thus found.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
