What Causes Chronic Nausea And Hiccups?

I have had chronic nausea for a long time. This week I am now having gagging several times a day only mucus and saliva when vomiting. ALSO I have frequent brief hiccups all day long. Ihave just been told that I have increased pressure in my right eye and are receiving eye drops. Ihave autoimmune Myasthena gravis being treated with prednisone and Imuran and infusions of IGG. I have recently developed peripheral neuropathy affecting my balance and walking.any ideas of what is causing this nausea problem? Ihave had a nissen fundoplication using mesh for a large hiatal hernia.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are a number of different causes for persistent nausea. Some of the most common causes are- side effect of medication, GERD, infection, associated with vertigo, liver or kidney disease, gall bladder disease etc. With a history of a hiatal hernia, if you are still having reflux symptoms, this may be cause but blood tests and physical examination would be needed to rule out other causes. The neuropathy can also have a number of different causes and you may need to see a neurologist for assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
