General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

Your condition is clearly due to acid reflux and your diagnosis is most probably gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The symptoms of which include cough, heart burn, chest pain, cough, difficulty swallowing , regurgitation of food or drink into your throat, etc.

The causes include smoking, alcohol consumption, high levels of stress, irregular eating habits, side effect of strong medications or surgery, etc.

I would strongly recommend continuation of your medications for as long as possible and avoid all the above mentioned triggers including fatty food, fried food, oily food, spicy food, carbonated drinks. Drink plenty of water and use antacids regularly.

Best wishes.
