Lupus is autoimmune disease, in this condition, antibody which are developed against own organs and own body tissues, which leads to damage of body tissues and symptoms you are feeling. This is non curable disease, it can only be controlled with medication. Thus, you need lifelong medication. Every medicine has few side effects. That is why you need regular follow-up with your doctor to titrate the dose of medicine.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
