What Causes Chronic Diarrhea?

I have chronic diarrhea. Sometimes it is explosive. Sometimes it just seeps out. At one point I was diagnosed with unspecified colitis and the doctor just shoved a prescription and told me here take these . What is causing this. I have tried a gluten free diet which seems to help but I have found carrageenan in foods causes me to have diarrhea. What can I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due inflammatory bowel syndrome. A consultation with gastroenterologist and colonoscopy will be helpful to rule out the condition. Foods which cause irritation should be avoided. Gluten sensitivity should be ruled out also. If inflammatory bowel syndrome then drugs like mesalazine will help you to get proper remission also.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
I find this answer helpful
